February 1892

1 Mon Some clouds and cold with a NW wind. Me and Harden was making sled benches for the bob sled today. Some signs of warmer weather.

2 Tue Clear and cold with a NW wind. I was home all day. My wife went to the Sewing Circle at Hutchinson’s this afternoon. Harden hauled up his shingles from G.W. Collins. I worked on the sled benches.

3 Wed Cloudy and cold with a NE wind. I was home all day working at the bobsled with Harden. My wife went up to Jim’s in the afternoon. Signs of a storm soon.

4 Thu Cold with a NE snow part of the previous night and all day and is still snowing at bedtime. Dr. A.J. Fulton here to dinner. Harden Shaw and wife here to supper.

5 Fri Clear and cold with a NW wind. Signs of a storm soon. I was choring all day. J.W. Fulton here this evening.

6 Sat Clear and cold with a NW wind. Roger Hawksley called here today and bought a pair of mitts. Harden was at work hauling some logs for his barn.

7 Sun Some clouds and warm with a SE wind. I was home all day. Signs of another storm soon. John Hallett and Cy and Helen Hutchinson was here.

8 Mon Cold with a SE snow in the night and all day. It is still snowing at bedtime. Me and Harden was fixing up our long sled and hauling some wood today.

9 Tue Cold and drizzling snow all day from the SE. I was home all day. Harden went out to Blaine to see Charles Chandler today. Still snowing at bedtime.

10 Wed Some clouds with a cold SE wind and some snow squalls. I was home all day. John Bartley and wife came here this evening and their little son.
(John Bartley, the brother of Harden’s wife,Annie Bartley. John married Abigail (Abba) Fulton, Robert and Martha’s daughter. The little boy was probably John Wellington Bartley, Jr. at five years of age)

11 Thu Cloudy and cold with a SE wind. John Dolloff called here today to dinner. John Bartley and wife was here. John Jones and wife here tonight. His wife came to board.

12 Fri Cloudy and cold with a NW wind. I was home all day. John Bartley and wife left here this morning. It snowed the most of the day. Scott Jones called from Wicklow, CC, N.B. Called to tea.

13 Sat Coudy and cold with a NW wind. It snowed some and drifted very heavy. John Aheran here this morning after a Rip Saw. John Jones is here tonight from the Mill with his wife.

14 Sun Clear and cold with a NW wind. I was home all day and Harden went to the funeral of James Kearney. Son, Jones and wife and E. Cox was here together. Jones’ wife boards here. (I am not certain how the ‘son’ fits in this entry)

15 Mon Heavy cold SE wind and snow in the night and most all day. I was home all day. Signs of more storm soon. John Jones here tonight.

16 Tue Clear and cold with a NW wind. I was home all day. Sewing Circle here today. Fifteen women,four men and four youngsters. Fifteen women, four men and four youngsters. (Grandfather repeated the number of people present.)

17 Wed Some clouds and cold and very blustery and drifting. I was home all day. J.W. Fulton called in today. John Jones is here again tonight. So ends the day.

18 Thu Cloudy and cold with a West wind and blowing and snowing and drifting all day. Signs of rain. I was home all day. Fred Blackden and Frank Blackden and James Murray was here today. So ends the day.

19 Fri Clear and warm with a NW wind. Me and Harden went to Blaine. Jim Fulton and Jim Murray went with us. We took our dinners at Larrabee’s. I took out eggs.

20 Sat Some clouds with a warm West wind. I was home all day splitting wood and choring. Harden drove the team up to Brown’s to break the road for hauling potatoes to Fort Fairfield. Thomas Bartley called in. (Thomas Bartley is Annie’s father, from Knoxford)

21 Sun Cloudy and warm with a West wind. I was home all day. Signs of a storm. Perry Cox called here this evening. John Jones and wife here tonight. So ends the day.

22 Mon Cloudy and warm this morning. I was home all day. Harden took a load of potatoes to the Fort. Daniel McGrath and wife and George Thomas here to dinner. Evelyn Fulton called in.

23 Tue Cloudy and warm with a NE wind. I was home all day. Me and Harden picked up twelve bbls of my potatoes to go to the Fort tomorrow. Sam Fulton called here today. (Samuel D. Fulton is he son of Thomas Fulton, of Knoxford. Thomas is Robert M. Fulton’s brother.)

24 Wed Cloudy and cool with a SE wind. I was home all day. Harden went to the Fort with a load of potatoes for me. Ten bbls at $7.00, White Elephants. Signs of rain soon. So ends the day.

25 Thu Cloudy and cool with a SE wind. Me and L.H. Fulton went down to Collin’s Shingle Mill. I gotthree gallons of molasses from Jones.

26 Fri Clear and warm with a SE wind in the fournoon. I was home all day. Harden went to the Fort this morning with a load of eleven bbls of potatoes.

27 Sat Clear and cold with a North wind. I was home all day choring and taking care of the stock. George Carr called here today. Abel Tilley from Limestone here tonight.

28 Sun Clear and cold with a SE wind. Abel Tilley here all day and two nights. Harden and wife went over to Fred Blackden’s today. Alf Gillen here for sleigh.

29 Mon Some clouds and cool with a SE wind. I was sawing and splitting up wood all day. Harden went over to the River de Chute and back. Abel Tilley left here this morning for Limestone.
